My husband has left our home; he initiated the separation and is pushing for divorce. We rent. My question is, must I allow him access to the home? Can I change locks if necessary to keep him out when I’m not around? Does he have any rights given that his income still pays the rent?
No. If your husband left the residence to reside elsewhere he is not entitled to return without your express permission and you may change the locks, no matter who pays the rent.
