Age for child to choose

Is there any minimum age, such as 13 or 15, or? where a child is allowed to petition the court regarding participating in visitation? If so, what does that entail?

No, a child cannot decide on where they will live, or how often they will visit with a parent until they are 18. However, a child of any age (with the appropriate level of maturity) may testify in court as to what they wishes are in a custody case. It will be up to the judge to decide how much weight to give the child’s testimony.
