Breach of separation & Property Settlement

If my ex refuses to pay something he agreed to in our settlement/property agreement (not an order of the court) and it is kess than $1000, where do I sue him for breach of contract?
Small claims or family district court? We do have a child custody consent order but the property settlement/agreement was not made part of a court order

You would file a breach of contract lawsuit in district court.
