My wife of five years, left our house at the beginning of April and moved in with her mother. On several occasions she has dropped by the house uninvited and used her key to let herself in. Being that she has been gone for 6 months can I change the locks and ask her to remove the rest of the belongings from the house. I rent the house from my parents and there is no rental or lease agreement with her name on it. I have a storage shed in the back yard and would like to begin the process of moving her things there, because every couple of month she comes by to remove items. Are there any legal reasons that might prevent me from doing that, the area where the shed is located is secure and locked. Thanks for any help given.
Yes, you may change the locks, move her things to the shed, and ask her to come and retrieve them.
