Child support is intended to go towards the children’s basic needs, however in a shared custody arrangement the secondary custodian (35% time) will be expected to provide for the children as well when they are in that parent’s care, this is why the Worksheet B awards a lower amount of support than the Worksheet A, which is used to determine the amount of child support paid to a parent with primary physical custody.
