You can contact child support enforcement and ask them to pursue court ordered child support on your behalf. However, if he isn’t working because he was laid off and is making efforts to find a new job, your child support may be reduced to reflect his present income.

He is currently still being paid by his former employer under his severance agreement. He will be receiving this pay for several more months. I was under the impression that CSE looks at the last 3 months of income.
Child support will be determined using all the relevant factors. Even if he is drawing a severance the court will consider the fact that he has lost his job.

My ex was recently laid off. The child support that he pays is not currently court ordered since we handled our divorce ourselves. I am concerned that once his severance pay stops (in a few months) that he will stop paying child support. He’s mentioned this briefly in a conversation.
My question. Should I contact Child Support Enforcement and have them handle my child support so he will have to pay? A friend told me that CSE will automatically deduct child support from unemployment checks.
