Divorce

What are the legal effects of having the divorce proceeding completed before equiptible distribution, child custody, and child support cases completed? Is there any way to delay the divorce proceedings until the other court cases are completed?

Thanks,

If you do not have a claim for equitable distribution pending at the time a divorce decree is entered, you lose your right to assert said claim. This does not mean that the issue of equitable distribution has to be completed. This is not the same as filing for custody and child support which are not claims that can be lost or waived.

Do I have to file a claim for alimony before the divoice is decreed?

Yes.
