Forms needed for (Motion for Extension of Time)

Please-- I need help obtaining the forms for Motion for Time Extension in Craven County. ASAP- HELP!!!

There is no pre-printed form for a motion for extension of time.

Such a motion has the case heading with the file number at the top. The “body” of the motion is a short paragraph that states you are moving the court for an extension of time to answer Plaintiff’s Complaint (or whatever document you need to respond to) with an explanation of the reason (typically it’s because you need additional time to gather the information needed to adequately respond) and a statement that you are not filing the motion to purposely delay the proceedings and that the time for you to answer has not yet expired.

You will need to submit an Order for Extension of Time when you file the motion. The order has the same case heading with the file number at the top. It includes a statement that your time to answer the complaint or respond to the particular document has not yet expired and that you have shown good cause for your request for an extension of time. Then there is a sentence that states the time to respond to Plaintiff’s Complaint (or whatever document you need to respond to) is extended - leave a black space for the date, which a clerk will fill in.
