Dear smartiepants:

Greetings. You need to speak with a real estate attorney. After the date of divorce, and if you have not filed for equitable distribution (or dealt with the property division through a separation agreement), then you lose the right to handle property through the “divorce courts” and must handle it as if you are two regular people with a property dispute. Thank you.

My husband and I are legally divorced, however my name is still on the deed of the house. How can I get my name off of the deed?
