I have filed divorce complaint and out of state ex husband doesn’t know how to respond?

I have filed divorce papers in Buncombe county NC- my estranged husband lives in Shelby County TN and has received the papers. He said he “does not know how to respond” to the papers but doesn’t want to “not respond”. Divorce is uncontested and he does not plan on attending court. What form does he need to sign to respond to the divorce petition and where can I find a PDF version?

The defendant in an absolute divorce action is not required to respond unless he/she is contesting one of the allegations in the divorce complaint.

If the defendant does respond, he/she must file an answer to the divorce complaint admitting or denying each of the numbered paragraphs in the complaint, and the answer must be filed no later than 30 days after the defendant was properly served with the complaint.

There is no pre-printed form for the answer.
