I have an unusual situation
I hate to admit it, but when I met my estranged husband he was living an openly gay lifestyle. Needless to say that I fell in
love and thought he had decided to live his live as a straight
man.
The man who performed our ceremony was one of his gay friends.
He told me and I am assuming my husband that he was ordained
by the Episcopal church in Raleigh NC, and that he had decided
to pursue his gay lifestyle, and therefore took a sabatical.
He told us that he had received special permission from the
Bishop in Raleigh to perform our wedding. Our wedding was not
performed in a church but rather in our back yard.
I must admit that over the years, I wondered if he was indeed
ordained, but until my husband left me 2 months ago for a
young man 17 years his junior, I had not pursued the truth.
I have checked with the Raleigh church and there was NO man
ordained as a priest under that name the year our marriage
was performed.
It was since found out that the man who did our wedding had
HIV and I have no idea where he is or even if he is still alive.
Do I have a chance to possibly get an annullment under these
circumstances, with the Raleigh church telling me that there
was no minister by that name?
He simply signed our marriage license with his name and Priest.
Thanks for your help in advance,
