Marriage license not returned, Is it legal?

Our ceremony was performed by an ordained minister 6 months ago. It was signed and witnessed but not returned to the registrar of deeds. Are we legally married?

Yes, you are legally married however, it could be a criminal offense (misdemeanor) for the minister to not return the completed marriage certificate to the register of deeds office.
