In modifying child support, is it acceptable to ask for all income information (all tax years) since that last agreement/consent order? My ex only wants to provide 2024 info.
It would be acceptable to ask for all income documentation dating back to the entry of the current order if there was a reasonable basis for that request. For example, the other party is self-employed and the income is difficult to verify, or the other party receives varying annual bonuses.
Typically, however, only the last six months of income documentation is needed along with the previous year’s W-2s, 1099s, and K-1s and tax return. The last six months of bank statements are also necessary in some cases.
