Is my marraige considered legal in this country?

I married a Nigerian citizen in Nigeria on Sept. 2009. My husband has never been to the U.S., and I was only in Nigeria once, in Sept. 2009 for two weeks, and got married while there. We went to the courthouse in Warri, Nigeria to pay for a marraige license. Shortly after I got back home, our marraige began to go wrong. I’m planning on filing for an un-contested divorce. There are no children nor property involved. My question is, would our marraige even be considered legal in this country? He’s never been here, and technically we’ve never lived together?

Your marriage is legal, but NC does not have jurisdiction over your husband, the divorce will have to take place in Nigeria.
