Before relocating overseas for employment (non-military), my STBX and I resided in North Carolina since 2001. We sold all our possessions before relocating. Only assets remaining in N.C. are our separate bank accounts. All of our mail has been updated to be sent to my parents house in Florida. For tax purposes, we claimed Florida as our new residency, since we did not have a physical address in N.C. Me, our Son, & STBX have been residing overseas since 2012. If I want to file for divorce, what state has jurisdiction for filing purposes? (North Carolina or Florida).

I cannot speak to the jurisdiction rules for Florida, but you have to live in North Carolina for 6 months in order to be able to file for divorce here. You should seek a divorce in the country in which you reside.
