I lost my job after 12 years. Can I lower my Child Support and Alimony payments and/or postpone them ? Of course, I am doing all I can to gain employment, but I thought I’d ask.
If alimony and child support are contained in a court order, then you can modify either based on a substantial change in circumstances. A job loss should qualify as a substantial change warranting a modification.
