Mediation Failed

Dear stagar:

Greetings. First, that is a crazy offer…you would have to visit them in Charlotte and not at your home. Who was taking their silly pills that day?

The travel costs should be looked at for child support. I would ask that she have to meet you half way for visitation.

Finally, yes, you can always consult with another attorney even if you currently have one. We may tell you that your current attorney is doing a great job, or it may be time for a new one. Thank you.

The response posted above is based upon the limited factual information made available and is not intended as a full and complete response to the question. The only reliable manner to obtain complete and adequate legal advice is to consult with an attorney, fully explain your situation, and allow the attorney sufficient opportunity to research the applicable law and facts required to render an accurate opinion. The basic information provided above is intended as a public service but a full discussion with an attorney should be undertaken before taking any action.

Thank you! I really am glad you validated our point of view.

We will call Rosen in Charlotte and schedule a consultation for the same day we meet with our current lawyer.

By the way, we went through the Parnters in Parenting class today and they mention your seminar that will be held this month at a local church in Charlotte. I couldn’t resist touting this site and how awesome of a law firm it is. I recommended they all visit it and look into the law firm.
THANK YOU!!!

Dear stagar:

Thanks for the praise. You deserve some yourself for going to parenting classes with your husband and being there for him during this time. Thank you.

Well, mediation failed for my husband and his ex, which is not a big surprise – we held out hope, but it turned out to be the same ole same ole.

I have a few questions/concerns:

First, the ex’s proposal was that we could have them every other weekend, but one weekend would have to be in Charlotte (we live about 3 1/2 hours from Charlotte). Is there a precedent for this? Is this something that you feel a judge may order?

If something like that was ordered, would it be grounds for a deviation from child support guidelines requiring her to pay for 1/2 of the expenses?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
Last question, if we already have a lawyer and wanted a consulation with Rosen in Charlotte – is that possible/ethical?
