My oldest son just graduated high school so I am filing a child support modification. My divorce attorney was completely incompetent. She did not address the issue of payment of medical bills. I have several letters and medical bills from my ex-wife demanding that I pay half of the children’s medical bills that she had. I told her I would pay half of the ones she had when she paid half of the ones I got. Now she is getting all the medical bills sent to me even the co-pays. I have had so many medical bills from my children this past year that I couldn’t keep up with, so some got sent to collections and are now on my credit. I was just reading the NC Child Support Guidelines. It talks about medical bill payments. In my child support modification, can I request that the medical bills be paid half and half between my ex-wife and myself?
