Mortgage

Dear obxwillis:

Greetings. You need an agreement that describes when your name will be removed from the mortgage and how. You should not sign a quitclaim deed on the house over to your wife until the mortgage is out of your name. Best of luck.

Am I required to keep or remove my name on the mortgage for the house my soon to be ex-wife and son will reside? If not, is there a law or past case in the state of NC that would indicate removal this. My preference is to have it removed.
