Name change without divorce

Can I legally change my last name without an absolute divorce? I am better off financially if we don’t divorce. I want to change my last name and live separately as if we are divorced.

You can change your name without a divorce but you will have to go through the formal name change proceeding with the clerk of superior court. It will be much easier and cheaper to change your name through an absolute divorce.
