The response posted above is based upon the limited factual information made available and is not intended as a full and complete response to the question. The only reliable manner to obtain complete and adequate legal advice is to consult with an attorney, fully explain your situation, and allow the attorney sufficient opportunity to research the applicable law and facts required to render an accurate opinion. In NC is there such a thing as sueing for pain and suffering if these bills are now showing on my credit report and having all these collection agencies calling me with the harrassing phone calls? I did get a settlement offer from one to accept half of what the balance was originally and when I told my ex this he response was “I will see what I can do”. He does not care because this is in no way harmful to him and his credit.
Greetings. No, you cannot sue for pain and suffering, but you can file a request for sanctions asking the court to have them pay you back for the damage to your credit - but you must show actual damage. File the motion to show cause and get working on this now. Thank you.

I was divorced in NC and am currently living in TN. My ex and I went to court on 08/25/2005 and he was ordered to pay half of the medical bills. He agreed and signed the order stating he would pay his part in 30 days. He has made no attempt to pay on this and they have fallen to my responsibilty and I have been paying monthly payments however, they are being sent to collections and are on now on my credit report. My question is since I am currently residing in TN and have been a resident of TN continously since 07/2004. Can I get an attorney in TN to file a contempt order on my ex or will I have to go back to NC to do this.
