Proof of day care with child support

Generally unless there is agreement regarding the cost of daycare, the parent will need to provide some level of proof. Sometimes a court may accept the testimony of a parent if there is not proof otherwise. Either parent may subpoena payment records
from the daycare though.

Does the custodial parent need to show proof of money spent on day care? I’m asking because my husband’s ex recently filed to have child support increased and it was. In looking over the papers she claim she pays about $250/month or more in child care costs. In talking to his son my husband has discovered that he seldom attends aftercare - which would be the child care cost she refers to - and instead his older sibling picks him up at school and brings him home.
It is too late for us to do anything about this now I guess (?) but his oldest will graduate in June and he has been told to contact child support offices to get amount decreased then. Would he be able to ask that she present proof of day care/child care costs?

Hello there,
How do you find a Tax ID Number for a licensed private preschool
provider?
Thanks in advance

You may be able to obtain this information from the IRS by calling their 1-800 number, or you may have to ask the preschool directly.
