I get a small pension ($240/mo) based on Wisconsin employment that ended 5 years before marriage. I also receive Social Security, and my wife receives half of what I get as her SS benefit.
Can I be required to pay post separation support (or alimony after divorce) on either or both of the sources of income (they are my only significant sources of income, but without support, wife is below the poverty line)? If support is ordered, can either source be garnished?
That sounds like a difficult situation. The court will order PSS/alimony after reviewing both of your financial affidavits to determine what can be paid. Alimony isn’t generally paid through garnishment.
