Question on annulement

Dear jodygrisso:

Greetings. I do not think that annulment is possible for you. There are very limited reasons that annulments can be granted and someone changing during the marriage is not one of them. Good luck.

The response posted above is based upon the limited factual information made available and is not intended as a full and complete response to the question. The only reliable manner to obtain complete and adequate legal advice is to consult with an attorney, fully explain your situation, and allow the attorney sufficient opportunity to research the applicable law and facts required to render an accurate opinion. The basic information provided above is intended as a public service but a full discussion with an attorney should be undertaken before taking any action.

I recently married a man that I had dated in Arizona for over a year. Overall, I had no issues concerning his behavior and after 1.5 years of dating he asked me to marry him. We married in Arizona over vacation.

Basic facts:
he is Russian
he is illegal (expired visa)
I am american

Immigration was never a focus I thought for our marriage. I did get an immigration lawyer for him, and begin arranging for legal status. This has been entirely my money and effort.
Since the marriage in October 2006, he has gotten meaner, demanding, moody, and very unpleasant. He says that it is me (typical type). I am beginning to feel like he either has a complete side that I didn’t know about or that I was taken advantage. The potential for abuse is escalating quickly.

Should I consider annulement? Is it an option? What are my options in NC? Awful and unplanned situation in the making. Help.
