Unless you are named on the lease, you are not responsible for the rental payments. However, you may be evicted if the rent isn’t being paid. You may be eligible for alimony, but your husband’s ability to pay it will also be taken into consideration. You should contact your local child support enforcement office, and file for court ordered child support. You should also talk to an attorney about getting that separation agreement signed, or moving forward to a court action.

Ok I have a legal question here and hope you all can help me out.My husband left the kids and I for another woman he been seeing for a year…We are leasing the home we have been living in for almost 2 yrs…Husband told me Friday he wanted me to pay the monthly rent of $600 and pay the electric bill…Now thing is I have no paper saying to do that cause we have not signed sep papers…And the lease he has signed to release the house is only in his name…Am I responsible for paying all the rent and electric when he left us and me a homemaker for the time of 17 years we been married??? He only gave me a paper for me to submitt for food stamps telling me starting Dec 1 he will pay child support sum of 490. and partial retirement 462. which is $952. a Month I will only get from him…He has agreed to give me all household effects and the car (which is in his name)…Do I rate alimony??? he grosses about $2100. a Month…
