Due to financial reasons and our wishes to allow our children to get older before divorcing, my husband and I have lived apart within our house for over 6 years. We have not slept in the same room or had any sexual relationship or physical contact during this time. We are ready now to take the steps necessary to disolve our ‘marriage’. Is it possible to avoid an additional year of separtion to become divorced?
You must live in separate residences for one year before you can file for divorce. NC does not recognize constructive separation (living apart under the same roof).
