Serving notice of court date

My ex has been served by the sheriff with the notice of divorce. I have since applied for a court date which is scheduled for the 16. A notice of the court date was sent to my ex via certified / return reciept mail. However the mail has not been accepted by the ex. What should I do and what happens if the notice of the court date is never signed for?

Thanks so much for all of your help on this matter and thank you to a great group of attorneys that will respond to questions. Not many other firms are willing to offer free info! You’re doing a great service and it’s so appreciated.

The notice does not have to be signed for, and can be sent via regular mail. Just be sure you have filed a certificate of service to verify what date you actually mailed the notice of hearing, and shows the address you mailed it to.
