I live (and have been living for 5 yrs) in NC and my spouse lives in Washington State. Is there a different timeline for response, setting a hearing etc compared to when both people live in NC? No children involved, so property to divide. We have already satisfied the separation requirement and I want to being the paperwork. Thanks
If you live in NC, and your ex lived here during your marriage you may file for divorce in NC. The timelines are uniform regardless of where the parties live.
My ex never lived in NC. We were married in Idaho and he was supposed to move to NC, but didn’t. Does that make a difference?
