Vacation - missed school

I’d like to include in my parenting plan a provision to allow the children to miss school for an occasional special activity or vacation (Disney with extended family). This wasn’t an issue when we were married. In fact, the school excused Disney as educational. My ex would resist at this point for spite. Of course, the children would need to be doing well in school and the time missed should be limited to something reasonable. Does anyone have suggestions to language to accomplish this?

You could word it that either parent may allow for the children to miss school for an occasional special activity or educational activity but you should define what these mean by giving examples. You may want to include all such absences shall be pre-approved and excused by the school in advance.
