Witch hunt?

Dear bbbrenda:

Greetings. Tell her to force a paternity test and to find an attorney she trusts. Thank you.

The response posted above is based upon the limited factual information made available and is not intended as a full and complete response to the question. The only reliable manner to obtain complete and adequate legal advice is to consult with an attorney, fully explain your situation, and allow the attorney sufficient opportunity to research the applicable law and facts required to render an accurate opinion. The basic information provided above is intended as a public service but a full discussion with an attorney should be undertaken before taking any action.

Sorry to hear what you are going through. Let’s look at the ex-sex offender. Sometimes they get the wrap for something that may not be as bad as one thinks. For example, my child’s father was 18 and I was 17. We had a child together and he was charged with being a sex offender and spent 3 years in jail. If it is something similar to that you can fight on that note. If he is an actual sex offender and she left him when she found out then that can be her defense.
As far as the attorney, if there are others in the firm ask for another one to represent her. If not, physically go to his office and demand that he do things differently.
I am not an attorney. I do feel for you, your daughter, and your grand child. I hope things work out. I WOULDN"T SIGN ANY CUSTODY PAPERS THOUGH.

Dear philly:

What a weird situation you are in. There is no sexual offense for having sex with a 17 year old as far as I know though, since the age of consent is usually 16 as far as I know. Thank you.

was hoping you might could give us some advice or somwhere to go for help.

my daughter has a 5 year old … her & boyfriend (father of her child) split up after 8 years together

my daughter started dating a man who later told her he was a sex offender

my daughter found out she was going to have a baby & the sex offender is the father ( ex says she can’t protect the child if he will be coming around to visit his child)

she stopped dating him because of various reasons but her ex boyfriend

had her child taken from her because he lied & said the sex offender was living in her home.

the ex now has temperary custody… everything this man says is a lie but everyone believes him

she has court date a week from today & i don’t trust her lawyer… he wants her to let her ex have the child

her lawyer tells her that she is facing not ever seeing her child again. How can this be? I’m i over reacting to all this or does this sound like a witch hunt? No one believes anything she says & tells her she needs proof yet he has no proof of anything he has said & they believe everything he says.

If you have any advice please email me… i’m thinking of firing her lawyer & letting my daughter defend herself… we have paid this lawyer a total of $4000.00 & he hasn’t done anything but call my daughter a few times trying to get her to sign the papers her ex has prepared & at the end of each call he says well if you want to fight we will fight… well when is he going to get ready to fight? Is he scared? Does he not believe my daughter? Something isn’t right. What a waste of money.

Does it sound like a witch hunt to you?
