I know my “wife” still lives in the Wake County area but I have no idea where. Been separated for 9+ years, I could already be divorced for all I know. I tried to go to NC Vital Statistics to have a search done for a divorce record but they require a city / town and a date to do the search. Is there another way to find out without having to try and contact her?
If your wife filed a complaint for absolute divorce, you would have been served with the complaint. If this doesn’t ring any bells perhaps you want to reach out to her and ask her if and when she filed and whether a divorce decree was granted. Otherwise you’ll have to contact the Clerk of Court in a specific county to see if there is a divorce decree. There isn’t a state-wide database where you can search every county for a divorce decree in your name.
