How to find out if divorce has been filed

Unless one of you can come to North Carolina and go to a courthouse to look up the parties’ names on the courthouse computer, you’ll probably have to contact a lawyer in that county to see if they would be willing to do a search at the courthouse for you. Typically, the clerks are not willing to do that for you over the phone.

Good luck,

The response posted above is based upon the limited factual information made available and is not intended as a full and complete response to the question. The only reliable manner to obtain complete and adequate legal advice is to consult with an attorney, fully explain your situation, and allow the attorney sufficient opportunity to research the applicable law and facts required to render an accurate opinion. The basic information provided above is intended as a public service but a full discussion with an attorney should be undertaken before taking any action.

ok- i am trying to find out if and how you can find out if a divorce has been filed . my friend (male) has a he thinks ex-wife living in pfafftown. he has not had contact with her in over 5 years. How do you go about finding out if she has divorced him or not? I am in North Carolina now and he is in another state. I know there are public records, but if you dont know if it has been filed or when I cant really look for him. He does not have acess to a computer. any and all help would be greatly appreciated . can anyone just give me an idea where to start. Or give me the information to tell him where to start.
thanks
