Continuance

I am requesting a continuance because of a work conflict on the Court date. I have tentatively listed my reason for requesting a continuance as follows:

The DEFENDANT has a conflict at his place of employment on this date and respectfully asks the Court for a revised Court date.

Does this look sufficient or should I add to/modify? Note: I have meetings scheduled at this time that I need to be at…

So long as you use clear language the court will see what you are asking for, whether the continuance is granted will depend on if the case as been continued previously, what type of hearing is scheduled, and the discretion of the judge.
