The language in the order is vague, the court could interpret it to mean upon the sale of the property. If the other party believes you have not complied with the order they could file a motion for order to show cause to enforce the equitable distribution order. If you would like to take the most conservative approach I would recommend paying the money as soon as you have it.

if a judgement for equitable distribution states that “final payment will be made following sale of … property” , but gives no time frame can the receiving party file some kind of judgement? the payor has offered 50 % of payment immediately and the other 50% within 60 days having financed the other 50% of the property.
