Does a Parenting Agreement Expire at age 18?

Hello,

My oldest will turn 18 this year. At that point, how much if any of the Parenting Agreement still applies? Does the child have to adhere to the custody, holiday, vacation schedule etc? I’m interested in how it will play out with custody, not how the 18th birthday will affect child support.

TIA

Child custody orders/parenting agreements terminate when the child reaches 18 years of age, which is different than when child support orders terminate. The child does not have to adhere to any of the terms in the custody order.

Thanks very much Mrs Ayscue,

The agreement is a standard mediator drafted PA and of course signed by the judge. It however does not have any information in it about the duration of the agreement, so I’m glad to know that it ends when the child reaches 18.
