Financial Affidavits

You can generally document these expenses via your bank records. Most major expenses can be easily documented and the court will generally accept a reasonable estimation of the other expenses. You should keep in mind that the court will use its own definition of reasonable, if you do not have documentation of these expenses and the court thinks they are high, then the court may reduce your spending in those areas.

I am concerned about my financial affidavit. I have been told that I have to support everything with documentation. Problem is, I haven’t kept receipts for every little thing I have spent. Does the court actually expect this? I understand that you have to have a month’s worth of receipts and documentation. With the court accept a reasonable estimation? I don’t know that I have time to get statements from everyone and everything in time for my hearing on Dec. 31, yet I need the hearing ASAP because I desperately need more money. Help!
