My husband has legal joint custody of his daughter. She lives with her mom the majority of the time but he has visitation. Do we need the mother’s permission to add the daughter to our health insurance? There is nothing written about who should carry insurance. Right now the mother doesn’t work so the daughter is on Health Choice through the state. My husband wants to be sure she has good lasting insurance (His is a BCBS group plan through his employer where he has worked for over 10 years). Can we legally add her to our insurance without the mother’s consent?
(I know this seems like a no-brainer but for some reason the mother is totally against us adding her to our insurance. We carry a family plan so there would be no additional cost to anyone)
Yes you may add the child.
