Job loss during separation

Supporting spouse is earning 150k and dependent spouse 40k. What happens when supporting spouse looses his job after separation? Is the dependent spouse required to support the spouse (who is now out of job) even though she earns 1/4th if his salary?

No, the dependent spouse (the spouse making $40,000 in this situation) is not required to support the supporting spouse (the spouse making $150,000 in this situation). The dependent spouse has been the spouse to rely on the supporting spouse for his/her maintenance and support and accustomed standard of living. It may be more difficult however, for the dependent spouse to receive postseparation support and/or alimony from the supporting spouse.
