Payroll deductions

After initiating a payroll deduction for child support at the company I work for, what is the process for removing it if the order changes?

If there is wage withholding in place where the employer of the payor of child support withholds funds for child support and sends them to Centralized Collections for payment to the other parent, then most likely child support is being maintained and monitored by Child Support Enforcement (CSE).

If so, the CSE agent will send the employer a new wage withholding order if child support is ever modified.

What if I don’t set it up and just pay the requested amount? I realize this is breaking the order, but can they garnish my wages?

If wage withholding is set up and required in the order, then a court order is sent to your employer and the employer is the one to deduct the appropriate amount of child support out of your paycheck and pay it to Centralized Collections, which in turns transfers it to the other parent. You will be unable to circumvent this and pay it directly yourself.
