Can a separated person purchase property prior to divorce? If so, what needs to be done prior to contract and/or closing to ensure that there is no claim to the new residence prior to the divorce?
The parties must execute a Free Trade agreement, which needs to be recorded in the register of deeds office in the county where the land is purchased.
