I have been paying alimony to my stay at home ex wife for 3 years now under a 5 year divorce agreement without missing a single payment. I also am paying child support and the marital home mortgages. I was layed off of work last year for 3 months but continued to pay my obligations. Said obligations are so overwhelming that I now owe the goverment for back taxes that I couldn’t pay. What are my chances in court of having a reduction in alimony. Also, just found out my ex wife is now employed. Thanks in advance for your responce.
cannot predict the outcome of any one case, but if your income and obligations have changed substantially, and your ex’s income puts her in a substantially better position, its worth a shot to attempt to have the alimony and child support modified.
