Separate income to pay for co-titled vehicle

My husband and I financed a vehicle in both our names when we first got married. He made payments on it for several years, and then I paid $17,000 of my “separate inheritance money” (from my deceased husband) to pay it off. Can I get reimbursed or “credited” for the $17,000 that I paid out of my separate funds during our ED? I’ve read that for co-titled “real estate”, it would be considered marital property. But I have not read anything about personal property (such as a vehicle).

Thanks!

Your gift of separate property to a martial debt will likely have the end result of the truck begin classified as marital, however there is at least an argument that you should receive a creditl.
