My husband and I have a signed and notorized separation agreement. Do I need to file it anywhere for it to be valid?

I want to add to this question. My agreement has not been completed/signed yet and there are a few places that talks about it being filed in court. Should I take that stuff out if we are only going to sign with Notaries and not do anything with it in court?
