Shared vs Split Custody

Why is less child support paid under a split custody arrangement vs a shared custody arrangement. As an example if a wife earns $5k per month and a husband earns $10k per month, under a shared custody agreement for two children the husband would be responsible for paying $588 per month. Under the same circumstances in a split custody arrangement, the husband is only responsible for $392 in child support. Why is there a difference. You have the same number of children staying with you for the same amount of overnights?

I do not know why the worksheets calculate child support the way that they do. Worksheet C (split custody) is for an uncommon situation where at least one child lives primarily with one parent and another child lives primarily with the other parent instead of the siblings living together between the two parents’ residences.
