We have been seperate for a year. I plan to file paperwork for absolute divorce.
I understand she has 30 days to respond.
If she does not respond either way in 30 days or more am I granted the divorce
by default?
Can she contest the divorce and force us to some trial procedure then?

If she does not respond you will proceed with setting a date for hearing (divorces are not granted by default).
She cannot contest the divorce, and it will go through whether or not she wants to be divorced.
What is purpose or need for a hearing if my filing for absolute divorce
will be granted anyway regardless of her response or no response from her?
The court must hear evidence before entering the judgment.
