Stay at home mom

Dear acl:

Greetings. He should not be doing this, but yes he “can.” My advice is to immediately speak with an attorney. If you wait too long, you will probably not have the finances to retain an attorney. At this point, when you are separating, you must assume that he is only worried about his interests and not yours. You cannot assume anything else.

Yes, he can take your name off, but if you have an attorney, you can ensure that he will provide you with support.

Don’t worry about the wait…the attorney can assure that you get your support, even if it is past due. Thank you.

i have been a stay at home mom for years, allowing my husband to work and also to work with youth in our community while i have taken care of our 4 kids, the house, the bills and everything else. we have decided to seperate when our kids get out of school for the summer. he has stopped his direct deposit to our joint account and secretly (he thinks) set up a new account for himself. in two weeks he has not given me any money for gas to take the kids to school and pick them up, lunch money for them or anything. can he do this while i am still the “dependent spouse” also our car insurance is due in two weeks and i have a suspicion he is going to take my name off. can he do that? i have an appt to see an atty in our area but the soonest i could see him is i two more weeks. i feel like i am a prisoner here because WE made the decision for me to stay home rather than have a day care raise our kids.
