Attorney Bias-Child Support Issues

Dear petehunt:

Greetings. I cannot answer for anyone else. I suggest that you speak with your attorney again, maybe asking for a meeting in writing and letting him know in writing what you believe. It may just be a miscommunication. If that does not work, I suggest that you speak with another attorney. Thank you.

The response posted above is based upon the limited factual information made available and is not intended as a full and complete response to the question. The only reliable manner to obtain complete and adequate legal advice is to consult with an attorney, fully explain your situation, and allow the attorney sufficient opportunity to research the applicable law and facts required to render an accurate opinion. The basic information provided above is intended as a public service but a full discussion with an attorney should be undertaken before taking any action.

I am retired military, working overseas as a Department of Defense, Civilian. I retained a Attorney (Blackwell and Edwards,PA) from a online listing to assist me in a child support issue I am having with a woman who has a child by me. She somehow got my employment information and I recieved a notice from the NC childsupport agency that there was a case against me. I called the attorney (Edwards), gave him his $100.00 consultation fee, then $1500.00 to take my case. I informend him that I was currently giving the woman $500.00 a month from a verbal agreement and now she wants more money. During my talk with the attorney he automatically stated that with my salary, I would be paying 1500 a month to this woman. I informed my attorney that I was paying $500.00 a month to 2 other children from my privious marraiges. The Lawyer said he would ask for a DNA test, and tax records of the women in question.

When I recieved my rebuttal to the civil summons/case from my lawyer none of the facts pertaining to my case stated by me was in the documentation to the court. I wrote the lawyer a letter and he was defensive to his findings. Being overseas it is hard to call. I came home to NC and called his office. His legal assistant told me that my child support would be $1030.00 per month. I asked her what justified that price, she told me that I had to talk to the lawyer. I have not recieved a call from him 5 days later.

My question is how can my attorney not support my case effectively. Why hasn’t he done what he said he would do get DNA, Tax information. I also was not informed of any decision made in my case. How do I report that I was not represented correctly.

I think lawyers like that firm take advantage of military and government employees because we have a guaranteed source of income and the Governemnt made access to our income easy to child support agencies. I believe my lawyer was bias in my case. How come criminals get excellent representation and tax paying hard working folks get shafted.
