I am considering changing my attorney. There was an attorney who represented someone who was called for deposition during my discovery. Can I approach that attorney? or because he was somewhat involved in my case is he off bounds? I’m not sure how ethics works. He was not representing my ex.

Without knowing more about the type of litigation and the person who was being deposed, I could not tell you whether representing you would be conflict of interest. you can review our rules of professional conduct on the state bar website: Rules of Professional Conduct | North Carolina State Bar. It would need to be the attorneys decision whether he/she could represent you ethically. If you liked the attorney, it wouldn’t hurt to call them and ask.
