Help with alimony and support

My husband left me in April 2017. We were married 23 years. No children involved, so that is not a factor. He was the sole bread winner and I have had to make ends meet on my own. I do work but do not make enough money to sustain my needs. He works for a huge CRO and has a 401K and he also lives with his parents helping take care of them. So he has no rent to pay, utilities etc. He thinks he is not obligated to pay alimony. He did walk out on me. He and his two Sisters were waiting for me in when I returned from a short visit from my sister’s one weekend. He didn’t even have the nerve to tell me he was leaving. His sister spoke up and said he was leaving. He tells me he does not have to support me. He dropped me from his health insurance…so I had to purchase my own separate insurance. However, he does reimburse me for that. I am at such a loss as to know what to do. I do not have the funds to hire an attorney. My husband did say he was filing for divorce in April. I had to move to another apartment. I moved in July 2017. He also took our little Yorkshire Terrier which we got together as a family. He told me I needed to get my own dog. Everything has been so difficult.
I need legal advice. Please.

You will need to file a court action against your husband for alimony prior to an absolute divorce being granted. As long as he was the supporting spouse throughout the marriage and you were the dependent spouse throughout the marriage and you did not commit any marital misconduct, then you would be entitled to alimony from him.

You can get access to a library of legal forms and communicate with an attorney through our Rosen Online Service. This service only costs $199/month, and would be a great resource for you to handle your alimony issue without spending thousands of dollars retaining an attorney.
