You cannot change the locks to the martial residence unless your spouse MOVES OUT with the intention of living somewhere else. Usually it is sufficient if someone leaves with most of their clothing and personal belongings (ie: more than enough for a normal business trip or vacation). You cannot change the locks if your spouse leaves after an argument for a night, or for a few nights if they have intention of coming back to the residence.
